The golden
Stupa of the
Pha That Luang in Vientiane

I was very fortunate to
benefit
from the services of a First Class travel agency during my adventure. I
found them by chance, in one of those tiny ads in the New Yorker
magazine.
I chose their "budget" option, which means I was mostly alone, and my
guides
were Lao. They organized me a trip that was very smooth, yet not so
processed
as to lose all flavor. I am impressed with the amount of discovery they
were able to squeeze in my tight week in Laos, and I recommend them
thoroughly:

Lonely Planet also publishes the guide book I relied upon, and which proved both entertaining and informative: |
